Actually had this lovely fishing trip back in June. But I’m posting it now. Had a great conversation this morning with a retired history professor about fly fishing. Made me nastalgic for everything angling. And I realized I had these pictures that I hadn’t blogged yet, so here it goes.
Went up Norford Lake at the Norford club with above said retired history professor. A hatch of some fly, I’m no expert, but it was a big white guy (I know, pathetic excuse for a fisherman here). Whatever it was, we had the right fly for it and the rainbows were biting like mad.

We were fishing late into the evening, pulled our row boat ashore when it was actually dark out, but with us were two beautiful rainbows. We had planned on doing only catch-and-release, but alas, two of the trout would’ve died had we put them back (were bleeding from the gills), so decided we did to keep them and cook them up. Well, in the end I took both of them home.

Prepared each fish a different way – one filleted, one grilled. Needless to say they were both yummy and fed a few people.

(and yes, I gutted the fish in the kitchen with my leatherman)
So yep, a retroactive post from many months ago. But that’s what I’m in the mood for, so alas.
